The Mediterranean Diet Route is a project that is part of the Regional Plan for Safeguarding and Enhancing the Mediterranean Diet in the Algarve region. The project is supported by a wide-ranging partnership including:

  • Algarve Regional Coordination and Development Commission;
  • Tavira - Portugal's Representative Community for the UNESCO application;
  • Algarve Regional Directorate for Agriculture and Fisheries;
  • Algarve Regional Directorate for Culture;
  • Algarve Tourism Region Entity;
  • University of the Algarve;
  • Algarve and Vila Real de Santo António Tourism Schools;
  • Tertúlia Algarvia. 

The MDR also includes the municipalities of the Algarve, AHETA, local museums and numerous private companies from different areas that are committed to safeguarding and promoting the Mediterranean Diet.

The project is promoted by the In Loco Associação (In Loco Association), under the Endogenous Resources Development Action Plan (PADRE) and co-financed by the Algarve Regional Operational Programme - CRESC ALGARVE 2020, under the PORTUGAL 2020 Partnership Agreement.
